Abstract:Objective To translate the Nurse′s Intention to Care for Patients with Infectious Disease Scale (NICPS) into Chinese and test its reliability and validity, so as to provide a measurement tool for evaluating nurses′ intention to care for infectious disease patients in China. Methods The English version of the NIVPS was translated into Chinese following Brislin′s translation model, which included forward translation, back-translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and pilot testing, resulting in a Chinese version of the scale.Using a convenience sampling method, 500 nurses were recruited between April and July 2024 to participate in a survey aimed at evaluating the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the scale. Results The Chinese version of the NICPS consisted of 3 dimensions (social support, spiritual motivation, and job satisfaction) with a total of 17 items. The item-level content validity index (I-CVI) ranged from 0.889 to 1.000, and the scale-level content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.941.Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) extracted 3 common factors, accounting for 68.684% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis results showed that the model fit indices were as follows:χ2/df=2.919, RMSEA=0.080, GFI=0.890, AGFI=0.852, CFI=0.845.The Cronbach′s α coefficient of the scale was 0.912, the split-half reliability was 0.807, and the test-retest reliability was 0.959. Conclusion The Chinese version of NICPS has good reliability and validity, and can be effectively used to evaluate nurses′ willingness to care for infectious disease patients.
