Objective To systematically evaluate the qualitative study of nurses′ experience of professional dignity, and to provide theoretical basis for enhancing nurses′ professional dignity and stabilizing the nursing team. Methods Domestic and international databases were searched by computer to collect relate qualitative studies on nurses′ professional dignity. The retrieval time was from database established to October 2024. The Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal Checklist for Qualitative Research was used to evaluate the quality of the included articles. The meta-integration method was used to explain and integrate the research findings.Results A total of 12 studies were included. Nine new categories and three combined findings were synthesized:nurses′ experience with professional dignity; factors influencing nurses′ professional dignity; and supportive measures for enhancing nurses′ professional dignity. Conclusion Nurses′ sense of professional dignity encompasses both positive and negative experiences. Nursing managers should enhance nurses′ professional dignity through multiple and comprehensive approaches, thus to strengthen their retention intentions and stabilize the nursing workforce.
