Abstract:Objective To describe the level of clinical competency and its influencing factors among newly graduated nurses, and to provide reference for nursing managers to develop targeted interventions. Methods A total of 228 newly graduated nurses were surveyed using the Competency Self-Assessment Questionnaire for Clinical Nurses in General Hospitals, the General Self-Efficacy Scale, the Chinese version of the TeamSTEPPS Teamwork Perceptions Questionnaire, and the TeamSTEPPS Teamwork Attitudes Questionnaire. Results The median score of clinical competency was 196.00 (IQR 180.00,224.00). The general self-efficacy score was 30.00 (IQR 28.00,30.00), the teamwork attitudes score was 120.00 (IQR 116.00,129.00), and the teamwork perceptions score was 140.00 (IQR 140.00,150.00). Years of work experience, general self-efficacy, teamwork perceptions, and teamwork attitudes were factors influencing clinical competency among newly graduated nurses (all P<0.05). Conclusion The clinical competency of newly graduated nurses needs to be improved. Enhancing new nurses′ self-efficacy and strengthening teamwork can improve their clinical competency.
