Abstract:Objective To describe the level and content of nursing staff′s needs for scientific research consultation, and to provide reference for taking targeted measures to improve their scientific research ability. Methods A convenience sample of 489 nurses was surveyed using a general information questionnaire and a research consultation needs questionnaire. Results Among the participants, 9.20% did not need scientific research consultation, 12.07% slightly needed, 34.56%averagely needed, 23.52% highly needed, and 20.65% urgently needed. Regression analysis showed that the highest education level, degree of devotionto scientific research, degree of family support, and the number oftimes of scientific research skills training in the past 5 years were factors influencing nursing staff′s needs for scientific research consultation (all P<0.05). More than eighty percent (86.71%) of nursing staff needed research consultation for publishing research papers. The most needed research consultation service was paper writing, followed by research design, statistical methods, and survey research methods. Conclusion Nursing staff have a high need of scientific research consultation, with many influencing factors. It is suggested that managers should not only strengthen nursing research skills training, but also organize research experts to provide research consultation services, in an effort tosolving practical problems encountered by nursing staff during the research process.
