Abstract:Objective To conduct a conceptual analysis of future care preparation for the elderly and clarify the conceptual connotation of future care preparation for the elderly.Methods We systematically searched the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, and other databases for literature related to older adults′ preparedness for future care.A total of 40 articles were ultimately included.Walker and Avant concept ana-lysis methods were used to conduct in-depth analysis of future care preparation for the elderly.Results The future care preparation for the elderly involved three defining attributes, namely, future care needs, preemptive preparation for aging-related issues, and dynamically adjusting of care strategies.The antecedents included personal factors, family factors, and socio-cultural factors.The consequences included personal, family, and societal impacts.Conclusion Future care preparation for the elderly is a multidimensio-nal and complex concept that encompasses multiple conceptual attributes and is also influenced by multiple factors.The concept analysis of older adults′ preparedness for future care helped nursing staff clearly understand the concept and essence of this preparedness, thereby providing a reference for related theoretical research and the development of assessment scales.
