Objective To translate the Body Acceptance Scale for Breast Cancer(BAS-BC) into simplified Chinese, and test its reliability and validity, aiming to provide a more specific tool for measuring body acceptance in breast cancer patients. Methods The BAS-BC was translated into Chinese according to Brislin′s Translation Model. Then a convenience sample of 417 breast cancer patients were selected from 3 tertiary hospitals in Zhengzhou to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the BAS-BC. Results Six common factors with an eigenvalue greater than 1 were identified by exploratory factor analysis, accounting for 71.645% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the six-factor structure of the scale fitted well to the dataset (χ2/df=1.110, RMSEA=0.016, GFI=0.969, CFI=0.996, and IFI=0.996). The item-level content validity index (CVI) were between 0.875 and 1.000, and the scale-level CVI was 0.941. The overall Cronbach′s α coefficient was 0.885, and the test-retest reliability was 0.963. Conclusion The Chinese version of the BAS-BC is reliable and valid for assessing body acceptance of breast cancer patients.
