Abstract:Objective To explore innovative approaches for integrating ideological and political education (IPE) with palliative care education, to construct a curriculum-based IPE framework grounded in medical humanism, and to provide a reference for cultivating palliative care professionals. Methods Centered on the "Values-Knowledge-Ability" paradigm, IPE was integrated into the Palliative Care curriculum through optimizing core teaching content, developing and consolidating teaching resources, expanding and innovating teaching methods, and refining the evaluation mechanism. Based on this approach, an empirical teaching study was conducted involving 16 graduates enrolled in an elective Palliative Care course. Academic performance and course satisfaction were assessed, and students′ reflective diaries were analyzed thematically. Results Post-course assessment showed a mean academic performance score of 86.96±2.02 and a mean course satisfaction rating of 4.81 (on a 5-point scale). Thematic analysis of reflective diaries revealed a three-stage developmental progression in students′ cognitive structures: reconstruction of professional cognition, enhancement of practical skills, and arousal of the value of life. Conclusion Integrating IPE into palliative care education enhances students′ professional knowledge and ideological-political literacy, achieving synergistic educational outcomes.
