Objective To translate the Beadle Body Compassion Questionnaire into Chinese and evaluate its reliability and validity, to provide a measurement tool for scientifically assessing body compassion in stroke patients. Methods Following authorization from the original author, the English version of the Beadle Body Compassion Questionnaire underwent forward-backward translation based on the Brislin translation model. Cultural adaptation was achieved through expert consultation, cognitive interviews, and pre-testing. A convenience sampling method was employed to recruit 505 stroke patients to assess the reliability and validity of the scale. Results The Chinese version of the Beadle Body Compassion Questionnaire included three dimensions of body kindness,common humanity, and motivated action, totalling 23 items. Exploratory factor analysis extracted three common factors, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 60.066%. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated good model fit (χ2/df=1.352, RMSEA=0.038, GFI=0.906, IFI=0.975, CFI=0.975, TLI=0.972). The Cronbach′s α coefficient of the scale was 0.932, the S-CVI/Ave was 0.950, the split-half reliability was 0.786, the test-retest reliability was 0.910, and the criterion-related validity was 0.525. Conclusion The Chinese version of the Beadle Body Compassion Questionnaire has good reliability and validity, and is suitable for the assessment of body compassion in stroke patients.
