Abstract:Objective To analyze and elucidate the conceptual connotation of stoma disgust in colorectal cancer patients, and to provide a reference for healthcare professionals to identify and intervene in stoma disgust. Methods We systematically searched the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data,VIP Database, SinoMed, PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase, psycINFO and CINAHL databases, and screened the literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The concept of stoma disgust was analyzed using Walker and Avant conceptual analysis method. Results A total of 51 articles were included related to stoma disgust. The concept of stoma disgust was summarized,and its defining attributes included 4 aspects:emotional experience, physiological response, behavioral avoidance and social distress; antecedents included exposure to aversive stimulus sources, psycho-neurological mechanisms, and other factors of the individual, and the consequences included increased psychological burden, decreased physiological functioning, and influence on medical decision-making and others. Conclusion Stoma disgust has complex connotations, is influenced by multiple factors, and may seriously affect patients′ quality of life. A more scientific measurement tool should be constructed to accurately identify and assess the level of stoma disgust in colorectal cancer patients with stoma, and effective interventions should be explored to minimize the adverse effects of stoma disgust on patients.
