Abstract:Objective To summarize the best evidence regarding the standardized management of home enteral nutrition (HEN) for patients with head and neck cancer undergoing radiotherapy, to offer evidence-based recommendations and guidance for clinical decision-making and practice. Methods A comprehensive search was conducted across domestic and international databases and websites up to December 2023 to identify relevant clinical guidelines, expert consensus statements, systematic reviews, and randomized controlled trials on HEN in head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. The included publications were subjected to rigorous quality assessment. Results A total of 17 studies were included and 30 pieces of evidence were extracted and factored into 5 domains:assessment and initiation of HEN, administration of HEN, patient self-care, nutrition monitoring and follow-up, and organizational strategies for HEN management. Conclusion By synthesizing the best available evidence on HEN in head and neck cancer patients receiving radiotherapy, this study offers valuable insights for the implementation of effective nutritional support practices.
