Patient decision aids （PDA) facilitate processes of shared decision-making between patients and their clinicians.This review introduces the processes and formats for developing PDA which were proposed by some major international organizations, analyzes the characteristics and differences of each development process, identifies the challenges in developing PDA in Chinese context, and provides some suggestions, aiming to benefit the development of PDA for Chinese patients.
