Abstract:Objective To investigate the status quo of partnership between parents and pediatric nurses, to explore its influencing factors, and to provide references for targeted nursing interventions. Methods A total of 523 parents of children from 4 hospitals in Suzhou were selected by convenient sampling method. The general information questionnaire, the Chinese version of Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale-Family Member Form, the Generalized Anxiety Scale and the Chinese version of Pediatric Nurse Parent Partnership Scale were used to survey the parents. Results The total score of partnership between parents and pediatric nurses averaged (140.72±17.58) points.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that parents′ personality, education background, place of residence, health conditions, anxiety, and uncertainty of disease were influencing factors of partnership between parents and pediatric nurses (all P<0.05). Conclusion Partnership between children′s parents and pediatric nurses is at a high level.Parents who have higher educational attainment, who have extroverted personality, whose household has an urban residence, who are working, who are in good health, who have low level of anxiety or high level of uncertainty of disease, tend to have higher level of partnership with pediatric nurses.Nursing managers should pay attention to the above-mentioned factors and take active intervention, so as to improve parent satisfaction with pediatric nursing.
