Abstract:Objective To determine the effect of aromatherapy combined with acupressure on fatigue and sleep in patients with breast cancer receiving postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Methods Two wards were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group by the coin toss method, and 38 patients requiring postoperative chemotherapy for breast cancer were included in each group. The control group was given conventional care, and the experimental group additionally received aromatherapy in combination with acupressure. Before and after 21 d of the intervention, the Revised Piper Fatigue Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index were used to measure the fatigue and sleep quality of the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the total fatigue score and four dimension scores, as well as the scores of subjective sleep quality, sleep duration, sleep disturbances, daytime dysfunction and total PSQI score were significantly lower in the experimental group after the intervention (all P<0.05). Conclusion Aromatherapy combined with acupressure can ameliorate cancer-related fatigue and improve sleep quality in patients with breast cancer receiving adjuvant chemotherapy.
