Abstract:Objective To construct and explore the operation effect of a pediatric epilepsy nurse specialist clinic, and to improve quality of nursing care for children with epilepsy. Methods A pediatric epilepsy nurse specialist clinic was built, and a multi-disciplinary team led by nurses was established to jointly develop the service process and management system. The operation effect was evaluated through the evaluation index system for outpatient service quality. Results After 6 months of operation, the number of outpatient visits increased by 5.28% and the number of person-service times increased by 15.11%. Patient management file was created for 920 children, among whom, the screening rate of neuropsychological and behavioral health was 78.48%, the participation rate of health education was 92.72%, the retention rate was 85.00%, the rate of going out of contact was 2.83%, the discontinuation rate was 7.06%, and patient satisfaction with medical service was significantly improved from before (P<0.05). Three nurse specialist were trained. Conclusion The establishment of pediatric epilepsy nurse specialist clinic is in line with the needs of children with epilepsy, and can effectively improve the quality of medical service and patient satisfaction. It is beneficial to the cultivation of advanced nursing practice talents and the development of scientific research.
