Abstract:Objective To understand the experiences of inter-generational raising in rural migration older adults, so as to provide reference for the studies on their physical and mental health and quality of life from the perspective of positive psychology. Methods The descriptive phenomenological method was used to conduct semi-structured interviews with 13 inter-generational raising of rural migration older adults, and Colaizzi′s 7-step analysis was used to summarize, analyze and refine themes. Results A total of 5 themes were extracted: family responsibility, social adaptation (migration barrier, adapt well), burden and distress (role conflict, negative emotions and physical discomfort), lack of care information, self-identification. Conclusion Negative feelings exist in the inter-generational raising of rural migration older adults, and they also show a strong sense of accomplishment and value. The family and society should pay attention to the negative feelings of the elderly, and explore positive factors from the perspective of positive psychology to promote their physical and mental health.
