Abstract:Objective To conduct a systematic review on inpatients′ perceptions of nurses′ humanistic caring, and to provide references for clinical practice of humanistic caring. Methods Databases such as PubMed, Ovid (Embase), EBSCO (CINAHL, PsycINFO),Science Direct, Web of Science, CBM, Wanfang, CNKI, VIP, were searched to retrieve literature on hospitalized patients′ perceptions of nurses′ humanistic caring from database inception to Feb 28th,2020. The JBI Critical Appraisal Tool for qualitative studies was used to evaluate the quality of the included studies. Meta-aggregative approach was applied to integrate the results. Results Totally 67 findings were extracted from 13 qualified studies,6 new categories were generated and finally 2 synthesized results were obtained:humanistic caring addresses and responses to patients′ external/direct/physiological needs, and enhances patients′ humanistic experience; humanistic caring addresses and responses to patients′ internal/indirect/psychological needs, and consolidates patients′ humanistic experience. Conclusion The perception and experience of humanistic care of inpatients involve many aspects, and nursing staff should take targeted measures to meet the various needs of patients for humanistic care.
