Objective To explore the effect of psychological interventions for first-line nurses battling coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19). Methods A narrative nursing support group was set up to deliver a 2-week narrative nursing intervention to 40 first-line nurses battling COVID-19. Before and after the intervention, Symptom Checklist-90(SCL-90) was used to measure the nurses. Results The total scores and factor scores of the nurses after the intervention were significantly lower than before the intervention (P<0.01 for all). Conclusion Narrative nursing intervention can effectively reduce the psychological pressure of first-line nurses battling COVID-19 and boost mental health of them.
