Abstract:Objective To explore effective nursing management measures for the treatment of critically ill coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) cases in a designated area hospital where national medical aid teams served in the manner of whole-system-takeover model. Methods Nursing department staffers from the area hospital worked in partnership with multiple medical aid teams from other parts of China to achieve homogeneous nursing practice through a slew of measures, including early mobilization, establishing organizational structure, smoothing communication channels, integrating human resources, establishing unanimous nursing work protocols and quality, giving homogeneous training and assessment, ramping up process control, etc. Results As of March 12, 2020, the designated area hospital admitted 3 080 critically ill COVID-19 patients, and discharged 1 524 ones. The nurses had over 300 appointments for consultation service with the patients. All nursing management tasks were performed orderly and efficiently by the coalition nursing department. None of the medical workers contracted the infection. Conclusion Scientific and comprehensive measures to carry out homogeneous nursing management with medical aid teams is of great significance to improve the management efficiency, treatment efficacy of patients, and reduce the incidence rate of nosocomial infection.
