Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of project-based quality control circle(QCC)activities in reducing the restraint rate of patients with mechanical ventilation in ICU. Methods A total of 118 patients with mechanical ventilation in ICU were divided into 2 groups based on the sequential order of admission. The control group(n=57) received routine nursing care, while the intervention group was subjected to project-based QCC activities through which, strategy bundles were formed and implemented, to push through standardized management. Results After the implementation of project-based QCC activities, the physical restraint rate and the qualified rate of sedation and analgesia were significantly lower in the intervention group than in the control group(P <0.05 for all). The goal achievement rate of the program was 110.8% and the progress rate was 33.24%. Conclusion The implementation of project-based QCC activities reduces the restraint rate, and the incidence rate of delirium. QCC team members′ maneuver of QCC activities, professional knowledge levels, and communication and coordination ability enjoyed an improvement.
