Objective To explore hematological tumor patients′views of and seeking pathway for meaning of life, to provide basis for psychological care quality improvement schemes for tumor patients, and to help patients to foster a positive mindset. Methods Semi-structured deep interviews were conducted in 16 hematological tumor patients through purposive sampling method. Data were analyzed based on Nancy′s 7-step phenomenological analytical method. Results Five themes related to the meaning of life of hematological tumor patients were summarized: feeling the meaning of life from the satisfaction of needs; obtaining the value of life from family support; reconstructing a new life from the attribution of disease; exploring the hope of life in the process of fighting against disease; establishing a new goal in life from the process of role adaptation. Conclusion Nurses should give heed to the spiritual care of patients with hematological tumor, and understand their psychological experience after being diagnosed with hematological tumor. It′s also important for the nurses to assist them to promote their understanding of the meaning in life and help them to face up to the disease and treatment.
