Abstract:Objective To deeply understand the experience of using digital health technology in elderly cancer patients, and to provide a reference for the development of a plan to improve digital health literacy level of elderly cancer patients. Methods Phenomenological method was used in this study, with 14 elderly cancer patients being selected through purposive sampling for non-structured interviews.Data were analyzed by using Colaizzi′s 7-step analytical method. Results Elderly cancer patients′ experience of using digital health technology was summarized into four themes:the lack of perceived demand for medical-related digital technology, the diverse influences of social networks on the use of digital health technology, the barriers to using digital health technology, and the perception of the multiple benefits of digital technology in maintaining health. Conclusion Elderly cancer patients recognize the effectiveness of digital health technology in improving their health, but due to multiple barriers, their willingness to use digital health technology is low.Nurses need to develop targeted intervention strategies to expand the accessibility of digital technology so that elderly cancer patients can truly benefit from the technology.
