Objective To explore the connotation of localized delivery dignity, in order to provide theoretical basis for maintaining the delivery dignity of puerperants, improve the delivery outcome and the happiness of delivery. Methods 13 midwives and 15 pregnant women from 4 hospitals in Jiangsu Province were interviewed in depth using grounded theory research methods. The interview data were analyzed through three steps:open login, associated login and core login. Results The connotation of labor dignity included the maintenance of a sense of security (physical security, psychological security), the maintenance of autonomy (informed consent, joint decision-making), and the harmony of social relationships (family relationships, social relationships). Conclusion The theoretical framework of childbirth dignity helps to understand maternal childbirth choices and expectations, provides a theoretical basis for promoting communication between health care providers and pregnant women, and has guiding significance for the research and practice of providing high-quality midwifery care services.
