Abstract:Objective To summarize the relevant evidence on safety management of long-term home tube feeding for the elderly. Methods Based on the 6S model of evidence acquisition, the relevant evidence on safety management of long-term home tube feeding for the elderly was systematically searched from various databases, guideline websites, association/society websites and government websites. Guidelines, expert consensus, systematic reviews, and policy documents were included. The search timeframe was set from database inception to February 28, 2023. Results A total of 9 publications were eligible, and 27 pieces of evidence were summarized into five aspects, including team composition and competence requirements, patient assessment and risk screening, adverse event prevention and control, upgrading management process, follow-up and quality monitoring. Conclusion This evidence summary can be used as a guidance for safety management of long-term home tube feeding for the elderly in home setting, thus to improve the safety of home enteral nutrition for the elderly.
