Abstract:Objective To systematically evaluate the effect of shared decision-making in type 2 diabetes patients. Methods International and domestic databases were searched for randomized controlled studies on the effect of physician-patient shared decision-making in type 2 diabetes patients. The search timeframe was set from the creation of the database to January 2023 and meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3. Results A total of 15 articles were included. Meta-analysis showed that compared with usual care, shared decision-making could effectively improve self-management ability of patients, decrease glycosylated hemoglobin level, improve BMI, enhance diabetes related knowledge and self-efficacy, and reduce decisional conflicts (all P<0.05). Conclusion Current evidence suggests physician-patient shared decision-making improves self-management in patients with type 2 diabetes compared with usual care.
