Abstract:Objective To understand the reading behavior of users on a WeChat public account which is named in abbreviation as "Fu Zhong Care", and to provide reference for optimizing popular science public account and increasing its readership. Methods Relevant data were collected using the WeChat public account backend management platform and descriptive statistical analysis was performed. Results From October 2016 to April 2023, a total of 99 popular science articles were published across 18 categories, including medication nursing, palliative care, and disease introductions, etc. The cumulative number of followers reached 4,006 during this period. During January to April 2023, the peak reading times were observed between 9:00-<11:00, 11:00-<15:00, and 15:00-<17:00. Fridays had relatively higher reader engagement. The primary sources of ‘follow’ the public account were through "public account session interface" and "public account homepage". Conclusion Users of the "Fu Zhong Care" WeChat public account is rapidly growing, and they exhibit diverse patterns in terms of the ‘follow’ access, content consumption, and reading time. Based on these reading characteristics, there is a need to enhance the construction of the public account, thus to provide readers with an improved reading experience and valuable information.
