Abstract:Objective To understand the sense of belonging among nurses who participate in a standardized training program and to explore its influencing factors. MethodsA total of 214 nurses on standardized training program were surveyed using a demographic data questionnaire and the Belongingness Scale Clinical Placement Experience. Additionally, 12 nurses were purposively selected for semi structured interviews to explore the influencing factors of their sense of belonging. ResultsThe total score of belongingness among standardized training nurses was 132.00±16.83. Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that satisfaction with salary and welfare, as well as satisfaction with leisure time and patterns, were the main influencing factors of belongingness among standardized training nurses (both P<0.05). The qualitative study identified four influencing factors of belongingness:sense of professional value and personal achievement, work atmosphere and interpersonal relations in the workplace, career planning during standardized training, and reputation of the training hospital.ConclusionThe sense of belonging among standardized training nurses was at a moderate to high level. It is recommended that nursing managers adopt targeted management measures based on the influencing factors to enhance belongingness of standardized training nurses.
