Objective To translate the Readiness for End-of-Life Conversations Scale （REOLC） into Chinese, and to test its reliability and validity. Methods After obtaining the authorization of the original author of the scale, Brislin translation model was used to translate, backtranslate and culturally adapt the English version of the scale, in a bid to form the Chinese version REOLC.Then the Chinese version scale was used to survey 242 patients with advanced cancer to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. Results The Chinese version of REOLC included three dimensions （mental readiness, communication experience, values）, totalling 12 items.The cumulative variance contribution rate of exploratory factor analysis was 76.985%, the Cronbach′s α coefficient was 0.910 for the whole scale, and between 0.869-0.919 for the 3 factors.The Spearman-Brown split-half reliability coefficient was 0.699, and the test-retest reliability coefficient was 0.872.The scale-level content validity index was 0.917. Conclusion The Chinese version of REOLC has good reliability and validity, which can be used to assess the end-of-life communication readiness of cancer patients in China.
