Objective To introduce the Maastricht High Value, Cost-Conscious Care Attitude Questionnaire (MHAQ) and translate into Chinese, to test its reliability and validity, aiming to provide a suitable tool for measuring cost-consciousness of medical staff. Methods The MHAQ was translated into Chinese by a standardized forward-backward translation and cultural adaptation.A co-nvenient sample of 264 physicians and nurses from intensive care units of 6 tertiary hospitals was surveyed to test the reliability and validity of the scale. Results The Chinese version of the MHAQ included 15 items, representing 3 dimensions of high-value care, cost incorporation, and perceived responsibility.The first three principal components accounted for 62.629% of total variance. The item-level content validity index (CVI) ranged from 0.857 to 1.000, and the scale-level CVI stood at 0.988.The Cronbach′s α coefficient was 0.914 for the overall scale and 0.727-0.895 for dimensions.The test-retest reliability coefficient was 0.797. Conclusion The Chinese version of the MHAQ is reliable and valid to measure cost-consciousness of healthcare personnel.It is suggested to design a native questionnaire based on our own medical and cultural environment.
