Abstract:Objective To translate and validate the Chinese version of the Learning Immersion Scale in Clinical Simulation, and to provide a suitable assessment instrument for nursing education. Methods The Chinese version was translated and validated through translation, expert consultation (n=7), pilot study (n=15), and formal survey (n=1,731). Results Exploratory factor analysis identified four factors totaling 15 items, namely, cognitive assimilation, emotional buy-in, focused attention and autotelic experience, which could explain 64.728% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the 15-item four-factor structure of the scale fitted well to the dataset. The scale-level content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.933, and the item-level CVI ranged from 0.857 to 1.000. The Cronbach′s α coefficient for the entire scale was 0.759, and the test-retest reliability was 0.912. Conclusion The Chinese version of the Learning Immersion Scale in Clinical Simulation was valid and reliable to measure learning immersion in clinical simulation for nursing students in China.
