Abstract:Objective To summarize evidence related to exercise for patients on peritoneal dialysis and to provide evidence-based decision-making for clinical staff. Methods An evidence-based approach was adopted to retrieve relevant articles from databases and professional websites. Quality of the included literature was assessed and then evidence was extracted. Results In total, 14 articles met the criteria.A total of 39 pieces of evidence were summarized related to exercise for patients on peritoneal dialysis, involving 9 aspects, namely effectiveness and safety of exercise, personnel and venue support, pre-exercise preparation, frequency, intensity, timing of commencement and cessation, exercise types, post-exercise care, and follow-up. Conclusion The evidence for exercise in patients on peritoneal dialysis provided evidence-based approaches for formulating exercise prescription and health education for clinical staff.
