Abstract:Objective To construct and implement a programme for undergraduate nursing freshmen participating in a dissertation elicitation workshop, and to explore practice experiences of the freshmen. Methods An exploratory dissertation elicitation workshop was conducted for 50 undergraduate nursing freshmen, which lasting 5 weeks, 40 class hours.Then 16 undergraduate nursing freshmen who participated in the workshop were interviewed deeply by using descriptive qualitative study method, to evaluate the practice effect of the workshop. Results A total of 5 themes were extracted:reperceiving the value of nursing profession (nursing professional vision expansion, professional self-confidence and identity enhancement), developing an awareness of nursing research inquiry, perceiving an improvement in literature reading skills, perceiving an improvement in personal expression, and feeling the power of peer support. Conclusion Participating in the dissertation elicitation workshop is helpful to improve the professional identity and scientific research awareness of undergraduate nursing freshmen.This practice also provides thinking and enlightenment for the normal operation of dissertation elicitation, including actively carrying out remote ward rounds and developing multi-modal dissertation elicitation methods.
