Abstract:Objective To describe the level and factors related to symptom burden in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Methods A total of 283 AF patients were surveyed by utilizing a general data questionnaire, University of Toronto Atrial Fibrillation Severity Scale, Mental Health Inventory-5, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, FRAIL scale, and the Perceived Social Support Scale. Results The total symptom burden score was 0-28(8.28±5.11).Multiple linear regression showed that mental health, gender, frailty, and left ventricular ejection fraction were independently related to the total symptom burden score (all P<0.05). Conclusion AF patients in this study suffered from a heavy symptom burden that was affected by several factors.Medical staff should carry out targeted interventions to alleviate symptom burden of AF patients and improve their quality of life and prognosis.
