Abstract:Objective To reduce the incidence of medical adhesive-related skin injury in NICU newborns. Methods With quasi-experimental design, 612 newborns admitted to NICU from April through November 2019 were selected as the control group, who received routine skin care; another 594 newborns admitted to NICU from November 2020 to June 2021 were selected as the intervention group, who was subjected to a skin injury prevention management plan on the basis of routine skin care. The incidence rate of medical adhesive related skin injury was compared between the two groups. Results The incidence rate of medical adhesive related skin injury in the intervention group was significantly lower than in the control group (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion The medical adhesive-related skin injury prevention management plan can effectively reduce the incidence of skin injury in neonates.
