Abstract:Objective To investigate the financial toxicity and its influencing factors among bladder cancer patients undergoing cutaneous ureterostomy, so as to provide reference for exploring intervention strategy. Methods A total of 130 outpatients undergoing cutaneous ureterostomy in wound stomy clinic were conveniently selected, then they were investigated by utilizing the general data questionnaire, the Comprehensive Scores for Financial Toxicity based on the Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (COST-PROM), the Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form (FoP-Q-SF) and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). Results The incidence of financial toxicity in the participants was 86.15%, and the total score of COST-PROM was 23.00(17.00,25.00). The results of correlation analysis showed that, the level of fear disease progression and depression were positively correlated with financial toxicity (P<0.01 for both). The results of multiple linear regression indicated that, the level of fear disease progression and depression, age, personal monthly income in family, type of medical insurance and time required arriving at medical institutions by car were the influencing factors of financial toxicity (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion The positive rate of financial toxicity among patients undergoing cutaneous ureterostomy is high, in clinical work, special attention should be paid to the assessment of financial toxicity for the young, low income, uninsured patients and those who lived far away from medical institutions, and conduct early intervention for the high-risk patients to prevent adverse outcome events due to financial toxicity.
