Abstract:Objective To investigate the levels of knowledge, attitude and behavior of nursing staff toward prevention of inpatient suicide, and to provide reference for nurse training program. Methods A total of 445 nurses were invited to complete a questionnaire related to knowledge, attitude and behavior toward inpatient suicide prevention. Results Nurses scored (42.56±6.96), (30.02±4.31) and (52.45±8.02) on knowledge, attitude and behavior toward inpatient suicide prevention respectively, with a total score of (125.00±15.15). Whether have used psychological assessment scale or suicide risk assessment tool, and whether have participated in suicide prevention training were the influencing factors of suicide prevention knowledge, attitude and behavior of nursing staff (P<0.05 for all). Conclusion Nurses′ knowledge, attitude and behavior of inpatient suicide prevention are somewhat above average. Managers should pay attention to and carry out suicide prevention training.
