Objective To translate the Palliative Care Self-Report Practice Scale (PCPS) into a Chinese version and test its reliability and validity. Methods The procedure of translation, back-translation and cross-cultural adaptation of PCPS were carried out under the guidance of the Brislin model. A total of 494 oncology nurses from two tertiary comprehensive hospitals in Wuhan were surveyed to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version PCPS. Results The test-retest reliability coefficient of the Chinese version PCPS was 0.890; the Cronbach′s α coefficient for the overall scale was 0.909.The scale-level content validity index and the item-level content validity index were both 1.Exploratory factor analysis extracted three factors, and the cumulative contribution rate was 75.13%. Conclusion The Chinese version of PCPS has excellent reliability and validity. It can be used to evaluate the level of palliative care practice in China.
