Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of applying "Nursing World" platform backed SPOC (small private online course) teaching plus PDG (problem-discussion-guidance) teaching method in training program for intensive care nurse specialist candidates. Methods According to the training time periods, 58 intensive care nurse specialist candidates were divided into a control group (n=30), who was subjected to traditional teaching method, and an intervention group (n=28), who was subjected to "Nursing World" platform backed SPOC teaching plus PDG teaching method. The candidates′ performance in written and skill exams, and case reports, as well as their on-the-job competence level, and satisfaction with the teaching method, were evaluated. Results There were significant differences in written and skill exams results, case reporting scores, job competencies scores, and satisfaction with the teaching method, between the 2 groups (P<0.05,P<0.01). Conclusion SPOC combined with PDG teaching method can effectively improve the training effect and satisfaction of intensive care nurse specialist candidates.
