Objective To observe whether narrative nursing can alleviate anticipatory grief level of the main caregivers of patients with advanced cancer. Methods A total of 60 main caregivers of patients with advanced cancer were enrolled and evenly randomized into 2 groups.The control group was given routine psychological care, while the intervention group was additionally given narrative nursing intervention.The Anticipatory Grief Questionnaire was used to evaluate the anticipatory grief level of the caregivers before and after the intervention. Results After the intervention, the total score and dimension (guilt,grief,anxiety) scores of anticipatory grief in the intervention group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.01 for all). Conclusion Narrative nursing intervention can alleviate anticipatory grief level of main caregivers of patients with advanced cancer.
