Abstract:Objective To develop a questionnaire on the current status of humanistic caring teaching in nursing courses,and to test its reliability and validity. Methods Based on Noddings′ Theory of Ethic of Care, in combination with literature review and semi-structured interviews,item pool and framework of the questionnaire were formulated, then two rounds of expert consultation were performed to develop the primary questionnaire. At last, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 315 nursing students to determine the reliability and validity of the questionnaire. Results The questionnaire consisted of 5 dimensions and 39 items.Exploratory factor analysis identified 5 principal factors, which explained 66.276% of the total variance.The scale-level content validity index was 0.939, the total Cronbach′s α coefficient was 0.972, the split-half reliability was 0.894,and the test-retest reliability was 0.950. Conclusion The questionnaire enjoys good reliability and validity, which can be used to investigate the current status of humanistic caring teaching in nursing courses in China.
