Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effect of remote management system applied in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) attending a specialized outpatient clinic. Methods A total of 374 pregnant women with GDM were assigned into a control group of 199 and an intervention group of 175 chronologically. Telephone, e-mail and letters were employed to remind women of outpatient clinic follow-up visit after GDM diagnosis in the control group, while remote management system was used in the intervention group. Time for notification, time to first visit, and the incidence of delayed visit were compared between the two groups. Results Time for notification and time to first visit were significantly shortened, as well as the incidence of delayed visit was lower in the intervention group compared with the control group (P<0.05,P<0.01). Conclusion Application of remote management system achieves efficient and convenient follow-up visit management for pregnant women with GDM.
