Abstract:Objective To summarize nursing quality and safety management experiences in a COVID-19 designated hospital, and provide reference for handling of public health emergencies. Methods The Cancer Center was transformed into a COVID-19 designated hospital that only admitted COVID-19 patients, with 14 isolation wards and 850 beds. A joint nursing department which involved personnel from the hospital and Hubei aiding medical teams. Nursing work policies and norms were formulated , nursing safety incident processing workflow was established, and nursing quality evaluation indexes were constructed. Strict supervision and quality control was carried out. Results A total of 1 022 COVID-19 patients were admitted and treated,and 763 were clear of the contagion and discharged. The qualified rate of 3-level nursing quality control inspection was 100%. The isolation ward staff had zero infection rate. Conclusion The construction of unified system, workflows and quality and safety management standards is conducive to multi-team collaboration and homogeneous management, which improves work efficiency and quality, and ensures patient safety.
