Objective To summarize the experience of emergent renovation and management for COVID-19 isolation ward, and to provide reference for responding to emerging public health issue. Methods Five wards of department of infectious diseases were renovated to meet clinical needs of airborne infection isolation rooms, then admitted 338 patients with COVID-19. Training and management were strictly conducted following the national guideline for the prevention and control of COVID-19 infections in medical institutions. Results Among 338 patients, 327 of them were cured and discharged, but 11 died. Conclusion The emergent renovation of isolation ward effectively relieves the difficulty of admission of patients at the early stage of the epidemic. Strict and standardized training and management have made the new ward effective.
