Abstract:Objective To explore effective methods for preventing nosocomial infection in the operating room and to ensure safety of surgical patients and medical staff during the late stage of COVID-19 epidemic. Methods We formed a full-time team for infection prevention and control in the operating room during the late stage of COVID-19 epidemic,formulated and implemented such mea-sures as entry requirements for surgical staff, infection prevention and control at office areas, screening of patients before entering the operating room, management of surgical patients′ family members, infection prevention and control for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients during the surgery. Results From March 9-18, 2020, 36 patients received elective surgeries and 71 wereundergone emergency surgeries, of whom 9 were suspected of having COVID-19. None of the medical staff was infected withCOVID-19. Conclusion Formulation and implementation of strategies for COVID-19 infection prevention and control in the late stage of the epidemic are conducive to running the operating room and ensuring safety of patients and medical staff.
