Abstract:Objective To summarize the emergency nursing management measures to combat COVID-19 in Fangcang shelter hospital. Methods We quickly built an emergency response team and implemented comprehensive management measures, including overall planning and group based execution, formulating rules and regulations to optimize the work process, setting up posts and specifying the responsibilities.We provided such measures to ensure nursing safety as patient safety management, cooperation to guarantee ward safety, and management for prevention of nurses from infection. We also provided psychological support for patients and nurses. Results From February 5 to March 9, 2020, 1 848 patients admitted to the Fangcang shelter hospital, of whom 521 were transferred to designated rescue hospital for further treatment and 1 327 were discharged from the Fangcang shelter hospital. More than 5 thousand (5 020) specimens were harvested for nucleic acid tests.None of medical professionals was infected. Conclusion Through standardized and situation-specific management strategies, we can precisely implement nursing care, thus to ensure centralized isolation of patients and make the rescue in an orderly, safe and efficient manner.
