Abstract:Objective To understand workplace bullying encountered by nurses and to provide reference for targeted intervention. Methods Eleven clinical nurses received one-to-one in-depth interview, and then data were transcribed and analyzed by content analysis method. Results Four aspects were identified: the sources of workplace bullying (leader and colleague) and manifestations (work suppression, isolation and exclusion, personal abuse); attributions of bullying (poor work environment and cowardice);negative experiences of workplace bullying (anger and grievance, low self-confidence and self-esteem);coping with bullying (avoi-dance and endurance, confrontation, and not reporting of the bullying). Conclusion Hospital managers should pay attention to bullying in the workplace, and provide targeted solutions and measures to create a friendly work environment and organization climate.
