Abstract:Objective To investigate workplace psychological violence from working partners among nurses in grade three hospitals, to analyze its influencing factors, and to provide reference for targeted intervention. Methods A total of 928 nurses from 8 hospitals in Beijing were selected using stratified sampling, then they were investigated through Internet using Workplace Psychologically Violent Behaviors instrument, and binary logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of nurses′ psychological violence. Results Totally 31.3% nurses suffered from a middle level psychological violence, 60.7% perpetrators were senior nurses, and majority (77.2%) were female. The major type of psychological violence was verbal irony (50.0%), and most victim nurses kept in silence (89.0%) or did not report (91.4%). Higher educational background, permanent working and lower professional title were risk factors of psychological violence from working partners among nurses (P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion The workplace psychological violence from working partners among nurses in grade three hospitals in Beijing is in a middle level. Hospital nursing managers should strengthen psychological violence prevention related training, improve violence reporting mechanism, and minimize the harm of psychological violence from working partners among nurses to the largest extent.
