Abstract:Objective To understand the experience of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) when they provide early breastfeeding support for puerpera, and to provide reference for improving early breastfeeding. Methods In-depth interviews were conducted at 15 IBCLCs, and phenomenological analysis was used to analyze the data and identify the theme. Results Six core themes were concluded:responsibility,a sense of mission, acquisition, pride, gratification, and challenge. Conclusion IBCLCs gain affirmation and growth in their work, but also face the challenges. Managers should explicitly state the role and task of IBCLCs and establish work mechanism for early breastfeeding support, thus to advance the development of breastfeeding.
