Abstract:Objective To explore the level and factors associated with moral distress among ICU nurses. MethodsTotally, 413 ICU nurses were surveyed in terms of their moral distress.ResultsThe median score of moral distress was 47.00, and the median scores of moral distress frequency and intensity were 1.18 and 1.14, respectively. The main predictors of moral distress among ICU nurses included age, professional title, and work length in ICU (adjusted R2=0.393). ConclusionICU nurses have low level of moral distress, but those who are older, with higher professional title and those who work longer in ICU experience more severe moral distress. Nursing managers should provide psychological support and create healthy working environment and moral climate.
