Elderspeak is a special type of communication aimed at the elderly, characterized by simplified language and exaggerated sound patterns, it is commonly used in nurse-patient communication with cognitively impaired patients.This paper reviews the semantic attributes, characteristics, theoretical models, measurement tools, current status of application and countermeasures of elderspeak, so as to providing reference for optimizing the quality of nurse-patient communication with patients with cognitive impairment.
