Abstract:Objective To translate the Sense of Belonging in Nursing School (SBNS) scale into Chinese, and to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version scale. Methods The SBNS was translated following the Brislin translation model, and its content validity was assessed by a panel of eight experts. From August 2022 to October 2023, a total of 330 undergraduate nursing students were investigated by using the Chinese version of the SBNS to analyze its reliability and validity. Results The Chinese version of the SBNS consisted of 19 items across four subscales. The scale-level content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.947, and the item-level content validity index (I-CVI) ranged from 0.875 to 1.000. The Cronbach′s α coefficient of the scale was 0.965. Exploratory factor analysis extracted four common factors, with a cumulative variance contribution rate of 83.766%. Confirmatory factor analysis results showed good model fit indices: χ2/df=2.672, RMSEA=0.088, CFI=0.938, RMR=0.027, NFI=0.906, IFI=0.939. Conclusion The Chinese version of the SBNS demonstrates robust reliability and validity and can be used to assess the level of school belongingness among nursing students.
